RCPsych in Wales are pleased to announce the renewal of our partnership with the Welsh Psychiatric Society (WPS) and the National Centre for Mental Health (NCMH) to reinstate our biannual academic conferences programme.
These two partners are key players in the psychiatric landscape in Wales. The National Centre for Mental Health (NCMH) brings together world-leading researchers from Cardiff, Swansea and Bangor Universities to learn more about the triggers and causes of mental health problems. The WPS organises regular scientific and other meetings, awards prizes for undergraduate and post graduate achievement within psychiatry in Wales.
The spring and winter conferences showcase topical research and clinical practice across different psychiatric fields and attract a large and varied audience, from medical students and trainees to consultants and retirees. It also hosts a poster competition highlighting current research initiatives.
Professor Alka Ahuja, RCPsych in Wales Chair, said:
“The academic conference has traditionally provided a platform to showcase the amazing research, innovation and service developments happening across the mental health services in Wales.
“Over the years the conference has provided excellent professional development opportunities and been an occasion for colleagues to network, share ideas and celebrate our partnership with our academic partners.
“We are excited to welcome you all to our next conference in Spring 2025.”
The relaunch of this series will take place with the Spring Academic Conference 2025 to be held in Cardiff. We will be delighted to welcome the Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing, Sarah Murphy MS, to speak at the event.
