Dean's Quarterly Update

March 2023

Dear members,

Welcome to the College’s first ever Dean’s Quarterly Update email!

I’m now in my second year as Dean, and after sending out an annual report in 2022, I thought it would be helpful to members to produce a more regular communication.

So much work is going on to improve the way we deliver training and assess trainees, as well as the huge effort involved in day to day work by the College’s Professional Standards team, and the wider College, a once yearly update would not do it justice.

I hope you find this first Quarterly Update useful, and feel heartened by some of the stories below.

Best wishes

Professor Subodh Dave, Dean, RCPsych

Dean Subodh Dave

We have been delivering masterclasses for CASC candidates to tackle differential attainment – and results of the pilot project have been encouraging.

The College has been conducting a wide scale review of the way we assess trainees, and the results have now been published on the website.

The National Autism Training Programme for Psychiatrists was launched this month, developed and delivered by HEE and the College in co-production with autistic people and their families.

Keen to maintain momentum in a post-pandemic world, the RCPsych has published a Digital Literacy Framework to support colleagues with their continued use of digital technologies.

Employing Bodies can benefit from the diversity and experience that MTI fellows bring, along with their unique insight into patient care, with support provided throughout by our RCPsych MTI team.
